Write for us
We welcome considered pitches about visual art, art-making and the experience of looking. A strong proposal offers a clear question, a distinct angle and enough scope to explain something without relying on specialist access.
What fits
Ideas may examine a material, a visual choice, a useful way to look at a work, an aspect of art history or a small creative exercise. We are interested in pieces that help readers notice or understand something specific, not broad surveys that promise to cover everything.
Shape your pitch
Tell us the working title, central idea, intended reader and the main points or examples you would use. Mention any sources, images or permissions the piece would depend on, and disclose relevant interests. A concise proposal is more helpful than a complete draft sent without context.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please do not include confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted until we have agreed on the scope and terms.
Attention is a way into art
You do not need specialist vocabulary to look carefully. Start with what you notice; then consider how the work was made and what its choices invite you to see.
